Two families share private vices and public virtues, but are as normal as the family next door. These families are determined to do anything just to keep up appearances and hide their worst secrets and pittances. The Conde Spencers have lived in perfect harmony for many years. Their multiple businesses are going perfectly well. The three children, Ignacia, Carola and Emilio, lead their own lives though they live under the same roof as their parents. However, parents Renato and Eva seem to control everything that surrounds them. In spite of occasional tragedies that befall them - like the confusing and unexpected death of Adolfo, Ignacia’s husband - they live in peace and quiet. In the house next door are the Ruiz Arismendis. They are a young couple with two children, and they also seem to have been blessed with a pleasant and successful life. The parents, Javier and Pilar, are the model of a loving and well-matched couple.
