Ye Cheng
In the Kingdom of Great Chu, women reign supreme. They hold all the major offices, train as warriors, and rule the land. Men, on the other hand, must serve, perform household tasks, and obey their wives obediently. A matrilineal system ensures that titles are handed down from mother to daughter, with men never getting a look-in. Shu Cheng (Claire Jia) is a princess in this land, and a fierce fighter to boot. But one day, the royal palace comes under attack. The Chu leaders stay to fight – sending Shu Cheng off to escape, protected by a band of female soldiers. But on her way out of the palace, Shu Cheng comes across what appears to be an injured male hunchback. She takes pity on him, and carries him out of the palace. But an ambush lies in wait: A male assassin defeats Shu Cheng’s bodyguard, and when she attempts to defend her fellow warriors, it looks like Shu Cheng will be struck down. But the “hunchback” comes to her rescue, fending off the assailant. It turns out that he is Shen Ye (Yuan Hao), a man with many mysterious guises who has loved Shu Cheng from afar all his life. As Shu Cheng tries to restore order in a turbulent world, she wonders if she can trust Shen Ye enough to give him her heart… This drama series was based on a novel by Xi Ge. “Ye Cheng” is a 2023 drama series that was directed by Luo Zhi Gang.
