Don Severiano finds out that his daughter Cristina is in love with Diego, a peon. Cristina confesses to her parents that she is expecting a child from him. Federico, a landowner of the town, would be the ideal match. Severiano sets Diego's house on fire.
Diego goes to Cristina's house to threaten to denounce Severiano and swear love for Cristina. Severiano takes Cristina to live in Villa Hermosa so that she gives birth to her child there. Severiano offers Raquela money to take Cristina's daughter.
Federico finds Raquela with the baby and she confesses all the truth. Federico promises Cristina to return her daughter if she agrees to marry him. Raquela runs into Diego. Severiano gets ill and asks Cristina for forgiveness. The wedding day arrives.
Don Severiano has died and Federico takes Raquela to Cristina's house. Diego arrives at Cristina's house and finds her with their daughter. Federico arrives and they fight. Diego and Cristina plan to escape together but Federico takes care of him.
Cristina finds out that Diego is dead, despite the pain she faces Federico and demands him for divorce. Federico gets angry with Raquela but she threatens him to say that it was he who killed Diego. Federico causes an accident to kill Cristina.
Cristina survives the accident, but she is left blind. 15 years have passed and Cristina's daughter, Maria del Carmen, has become a beautiful young woman who, before everyone, is her goddaughter. Carlos Manuel and Jose Maria are near her.
