A Woman and The Revolution

Manon, a young Vendee peasant girl, treated cruelly by her family's tyrannical master takes refuge in Paris. There, she falls in love with Benjamin, a third state deputy. When the people rise up to change the established order and conquer their freedom, Manon makes her voice heard and pursues her destiny, taking part in the political events of her time, in the Revolution.

Manon, now a full-fledged citizen, takes an active part in political events. With Benjamin, she meets the great tenors of the Revolution and starts having a boundless admiration for Robespierre. But as the famine is ever present, and an overall terror falls upon the nation, Manon ends up rejecting her idol.
