Spring Breakthrough
Single mother Monica Rollins (Keesha Sharp) excitedly waits for her daughter, Vivian (Rhyon Nicole Brown), to come home for Spring Break, their annual tradition. Days before, after years of tireless dedication to her job, Monica is unceremoniously fired. To make matters worse, Monica is dealt with a second blow when Vivian announces her surprise engagement to Shawn (Akono Dixon), someone Monica didn't even know existed. Shawn's parents arrange to host an engagement celebration vacation in Hawaii, ruining Monica's Spring Break agenda. But she agrees to join the party, secretly determined to put an end to the engagement, believing Vivian is much too young to be married. En route, she meets Clark Randall (Demetrius Grosse) at the airport and an unexpected flirtation ignites. But it is quickly disrupted when Monica learns Clark is Shawn's godfather, who helped put the trip all together. Monica and Clark spar about what she perceives is his juvenile attitude. Nevertheless, as the vacation unfolds, they learn more about each other and Monica realizes she may have misjudged him. He also inspires her to reframe her job expectations and to strike out on her own. At the same time, Monica comes to see that Vivian is not her baby anymore and that she's capable of making these big life decisions, in part due to Monica's positive influence of strong womanhood. Ultimately, Monica opens her heart back to the possibility of love, welcoming Clark into her life.
