Siegfried - Teatro Real
Siegfried is the third opera in Wagner’s Ring cycle. Wagner had intended this opera to be a humorous precursor to the Twilight of the Gods, but what he created instead was a deeply introspective story, where even the proud god Wotan shows his most vulnerable side. Siegfried picks up where Die Walküre left off and is the epic coming-of-age story of Siegfried, the son of Siegmund and Sieglinde. He is destined to be the true hero of Wagner’s tale, but there is much he must learn before achieving his destiny. He sets off on a great hero’s adventure where he crosses paths with the Valkyrie Brünnhilde. This Teatro Real production, directed by Robert Carsen, is a passionate vision where nature is the true protagonist, submerging you in an ugly and polluted world where the characters wander, groping in the darkness of their hopes and ambitions.
