Die Walküre - Teatro Real
Die Walküre, or The Valkyrie, is the second opera in Wagner’s Ring Cycle and is the most famous of Wagner’s operas. Die Walküre picks up where Das Rheingold left off and tells the story of Woton’s mortal children, twins Siegmund and Sieglinde, who were separated at birth. Woton sets into action a series of events that brings the two together. Not knowing that they are related, they fall in love, which upsets Woton’s wife Fricka, the goddess of marriage. Wonton sends his daughter Brünnhilde the Valkyrie, to set things right. This production from Teatro Real is led by Principal Guest Conductor Pablo Heras-Casad and features a stellar cast and outstanding Wagnerian artists such as Adrianne Pieczonka, Stuart Skelton, and René Pape. Director Robert Carsen carries on with the desolate and apocalyptic setting, bringing new life to this iconic opera.
