Let's Kill Grandpa
Carl is a down-on-his luck, mouse of a man who has long lost the respect of his wife, Leigh, who domineers over Carl like an angry boss. Fearful that she may leave him, Carl hides his unemployed status from Leigh as he desperately seeks out a new job. On a Christmas weekend, Leigh and Carl visit Leigh's Grandfather, Kenny, at his remote upstate home where Leigh's sister Jen, her husband Brett, and Brett's paraplegic war veteran brother, Ray will also be spending the holiday. Grandpa Kenny's recent announcement of his lopsided last will and testament has created tension between the couples as Leigh and Carl will be getting a 2.2 million dollar payout upon Grandpa's passing while Brett and Jen will be getting the dilapidated home that Grandpa Kenny lives in. While chopping wood in the back yard, Brett shares a secret with Carl. Brett tells Carl that he had taken a ride to Grandpa's house a few weeks back to murder Grandpa. While sitting in the car, about to pull off the murder, Brett started thinking about Carl. He thought about all the times that Carl had complained to him in the past about being pushed around at work and by his wife. Brett tells Carl that this job was something that Carl needed to do. This would be Carl's right of passage. Brett hands Carl a vile of poison and tells Carl to freshen up Grandpa's tea with it. After making an unsuccessful attempt on Grandpa's life on Christmas Eve, Carl gets cold feet and tells Brett that he is calling off the hit. Brett blackmails Carl, as he threatens to tell Leigh that Carl is unemployed. Now Carl must decide between becoming a murderer or a divorcee. As the plot unfolds there are several twists and turns that include infidelity and several other family members being implicit in the plot to kill Grandpa.
