Laurel & Hardy: Tit for Tat
In the team’s only sequel (to Them Thar Hills), they set up an electrical supplies store, but then discover a belligerent old adversary runs the neighboring grocery. The film received an Oscar® nomination for Best Live Action Short Subject. Providing a marvelous running gag is Bobby Dunn (“How d’ya do?”) as the thorough shoplifter. Also featuring Charlie Hall and Mae Busch. With perennial nemesis Hall accusing Hardy of philandering, how one line got past censors is a mystery. Leaving her second story apartment and coming downstairs together, arm-in-arm, Hardy jokes with Busch, “I’ve never been in a position like that before!” Directed by Charley Rogers.
