Atticus Smith (Jeremy Irons) is a world renowned actor, as famous for his acting skills as he is for his womanizing and heavy drinking! His estranged son, Adam (Jack Huston), meanwhile is the polar opposite: a straight-laced, staunch feminist, devoted to his girlfriend. After one drunken night too many, Atticus suffers a heart attack, but with his daughter’s wedding on the other side of the country, and doctors prohibiting him from flying, he is forced to hitch a ride with Adam. The duo hit the road together, marking the beginning of a madcap journey across the United States that sees their clashing personalities lead them into a number of hilarious situations.
