When a journalist interviews Maggie Cole about local history, she instead shares town gossip. When the interview is played, all the guarded secrets and indiscretions are broadcast for the world to hear, changing life in Thurlbury forever.
Maggie wants to apologize to everyone, and starts with Carol, but she’s swiftly rebuffed. With the village reeling, Maggie’s ex-best friend Jill bonds with fellow members of the so-called ‘outed-six’, including handsome author Marcus.
Peter Cole is jittery about the press interest from Maggie’s interview and the petition calling for his resignation. Alex is greeted at work by two money lenders. Romance is blossoming between Marcus and Jill. Maggie visits Kelly’s salon.
Maggie is horrified that her comments have been deemed racist. Peter faces a call to resign and journalists are trying to dig up family skeletons, but his secretary Karen is watching his back. A Cole family secret is publicly revealed.
Maggie heads to the pub to amend the wrong with landlord Brian. Maggie and Becka have a rare moment of bonding. Karen reveals her feelings towards Peter in a very unexpected way. Alex tries to find the ‘lottery’ winnings to pay his debts.
Jill wonders if she should tell Maggie what she saw. As the villagers gather for the fete, a sudden series of events are set in motion that could cost the life of one beloved character and change life in Thurlbury forever.
