Kyotaro Ichikawa likes to read books about murder and fantasizes about killing Anna Yamada, a beautiful girl in his class. One day, he chances upon Yamada in the library.
Despite his misgivings, Kyotaro keeps helping Anna the more they interact. He may be a better person than he believes.
Anna and her friends keep their guard up around the boys; it’s obvious what they want. But Kyotaro’s different. Each brief interaction brings him and Anna closer together.
Like many people his own age, Kyotaro has a tendency to overthink everything. Anna, however? She has her own way of approaching life.
The class splits into group for a trip, and Ichikawa gets into the group with Yamada and the other girls. He begins to suffer under the guidance of Yamada's friend Sekine.
Kyotaro wrestles with his feelings as he notices of Anna's strange behavior. The library enforces a no-eating rule, and Kyotaro worries Anna won't visit anymore.
