Police captain Awa Sissako is sent from Paris to an Alpine village to help local lieutenant Achille Salvi investigate the murder of brilliant biathlete Abel Guérin. As the case progresses, the facade of a picture-perfect athlete starts to crack.

After discovering that the biathlon trainer, Jean, is a sexual predator, the police identify another victim of sexual harassment on the team-and they learn that on the day of his death, Abel had tried to confront Jean.

The case takes a turn when the prime suspect is found dead in a refrigerated room at the armory. After learning that Abel's fiancée was having a clandestine affair with his brother Benoit, the investigators direct their attentions towards Benoit.

The truth about Abel's sexuality brings a new twist to the investigation when the murder weapon is discovered at the home of Frédérik, his lover. Frédérik is taken into custody, and the case seems closed, but one detail still bothers Sissako.
