Ojisan Is Cheering for My Love
Available on Viki
Like many people, Matsuri Miyashita (Kitano Kii) lives a pretty ordinary life. She lives in an ordinary home, she works an ordinary office job and spends her days following an ordinary routine. But when that routine is interrupted by a tragic accident, her life suddenly becomes anything but ordinary. Saved from any real harm by Seiichiro Kiyokawa (Ohashi Akira), a complete stranger who sacrificed himself to protect her, Matsuri is overwhelmed with gratitude. At least until she realizes that the spirit of the now comatose salaryman has taken up residence in her brain. Determined to go about her business as usual, Matsuri tries to go back to work but Seiichiro’s constant commentary is more than a little distracting. Desperate to get Seiichiro’s voice out of her head, Matsuri makes a trip to the hospital where she meets Itsuki Kiyokawa (Sasamori Hiroki), the literal man of her dreams. Needless to say, Matsuri is more than a little surprised to learn that Itsuki is Seiichiro’s son. Realizing Matsuri harbors a crush on his son, Seiichiro encourages her to approach Itsuki with a simple invitation to tea. While approaching a man isn’t exactly Matsuri’s forte, having Seiichiro’s voice in her head gives her the confidence to try. Could having the voice of a middle-aged man in her head be just the thing Matsuri needs to take her love life from ordinary to extraordinary?  Adapted from the manga “Uncle Supports My Love” by Jun Ino, “Ojisan is Cheering for My Love (In My Brain)” is a 2022 Japanese romantic comedy directed by Hiroki Yamaguchi and Yoshikazu Iki.
