Genius super villain M.O.D.O.K. spends his time juggling his evil scientific empire, AIM, and his responsibilities as a husband and father to two teens. Due to financial strains, M.O.D.O.K. is sweet-talked into selling AIM to tech giant GRUMBL. Upon realizing his mistake, M.O.D.O.K. goes to super villainous lengths to get his company back, even going as far as mind-controlling his own wife. He ultimately fails to save AIM, and his lifelong obsession with conquering the world leaves his wife, Jodie, with only one option ― divorce.
In a bid to save his marriage, M.O.D.O.K. takes Jodie back in time to a concert they missed when they were in college. During a detour to kill the child-version of his GRUMBL boss, M.O.D.O.K. and Jodie are attacked by college-aged M.O.D.O.K., who accidentally absorbs their time crystals, stranding them in 2002. The couple reconciles but is stuck in the past until they catch up to the present. Once in the present, they prevent themselves from ever going to the past in the first place, erasing their entire adventure from the timeline.
M.O.D.O.K brings Melissa and Lou along to a remote Grumbl leadership conference. After learning that he's not the guest of honor, M.O.D.O.K. enlists Melissa's help in manipulating the executives into respecting him. His schemes accidentally lead to him opening up a portal that brings the dangerously hedonistic alien species, the Ciegrimites, to the conference. While the aliens are initially the life of the party, executives begin to drop dead from partying too hard, leading M.O.D.O.K. and Melissa to wipe out the Ciegrimites and save the conference.
After getting kicked out of the A-List villains' Soho Lair, M.O.D.O.K. decides to slum it at The Bar With No Name. There, he forms a crew of street-level baddies, intent on using them for a heist that will get him back into the Soho Lair. However, after a wild night of bonding and backstory sharing, they form a real camaraderie. Meanwhile, Jodie goes looking for M.O.D.O.K. at AIM and bonds with Monica while Lou meets Monica's daughter, Carmilla. College-aged M.O.D.O.K. has returned from the time stream and kidnaps the Super Adaptoid.
M.O.D.O.K., finding himself stifled by GRUMBL’s bureaucratic control of AIM, teams up with Monica to take down their new bosses. Monica's hatred toward M.O.D.O.K. remains however and she ends up betraying M.O.D.O.K., causing the two to have a mad scientist duel, which M.O.D.O.K. loses in front of his whole company. Monica is promoted to Scientist Supreme and M.O.D.O.K. is stripped of his authority. Meanwhile, Jodie's life without M.O.D.O.K. flourishes as one of her videos goes viral, launching her into internet fame.
Lou, feeling like M.O.D.O.K. is stifling his individuality ahead of his bar mitzvah, jumps into M.O.D.O.K.’s portal to Asgard. There, Lou is taken by a tribe of goblins known as Kobolds, but wins them over with his magic tricks and becomes their leader. He refuses to go back home with his dad, so M.O.D.O.K. takes control of an army of Asgardian warriors and wages war against his son. Eventually, M.O.D.O.K. and Lou strike a deal and use Lou's magic tricks to pacify the Kobolds. Meanwhile, the Super Adaptoid agrees to help young M.O.D.O.K.
