In Palermo people say you can die for love of a woman. Salvatore is convinced that if he asks out new student Alice he will die, so he lets his friend Fofò ask her instead! Meanwhile, Salvatore's father witnesses a Mafia murder.
After a great deal of thought, Lorenzo decides the time has come to move. But moving house isn't a simple matter in Palermo. Meanwhile, Fofò has become Alice ’s boyfriend and hasn't died so Salvatore decides to try to win her over.
Anti-mafia journalist Mario Francese visits Salvatore's school, revealing Palermo’s dark side to Salvatore. When the journalist suggests the children might like to conduct their own investigations, Salvatore focuses on the water shortages.
Uncle Massimo wants to sell the land at Rocca Busambra, which belongs to his father, Tore. The whole family travels to Ficuzza to try and convince grandpa to sell, but he refuses. The fact is that the land hides a terrible secret.
Salvatore keeps a secret diary where he records all his worries and doubts. Mostly, he ends up writing about Palermo and the Mafia. Meanwhile, Lorenzo is faced with a difficult decision at work, and Angela breaks up with her boyfriend.
Angela falls for Alfonso. Her life seems to have turned around, but Lorenzo finds out that Alfonso's father isn't just a successful car dealer; he's a Mafia front man. Meanwhile Salvatore decides to confess to Alice, and Pia expects change.
