Four cars are set on fire in the parking lot of the Anne Frank School. The situation is untenable; if it continues, the school could be closed. In desperation, Ester, the headmistress, turns to Hugo, a peculiar teacher.
Hugo has to identify the group of nine students whom he considers responsible for all the problems of the school. In order to apply his method, he needs to convince the parents of the boys and girls to sign the authorization.
Hugo forces students to confront their identities by locking them in the gym, pushing them to accept their good and bad traits and understand the consequences of their actions; Marga breaks down on her brother's death anniversary.
Nassir works at a landfill, struggling to connect with his son, Nourdin, who views the job as degrading; Nourdin should focus on his studies, but a traumatic childhood camp experience clouds his thoughts.
The academic year advances and the children seem to do the same. The problem is that the demands are so high that Hugo's tiredness and frustration grows, as he has to deal with the distrust of some of the teachers every day.
Hugo has quit school after the incident with the Counseling Department. Although he thinks he did it out of dignity, it is actually his enormous fear of failure that makes him take the easy way out and run away.
