Reuniting for a summer vacation, best friends Steve and Brad gather with their families at Brad's new home in the remote Victorian bush. But while there, a bushfire closes the roads, trapping everyone in the blaze's path.

Despite the bushfire edging closer, Brad insists they aren't in danger. Sarah grapples with both her guilt and Steve's anger, while Mia becomes the object of a dark obsession.

As Brad turns his attentions on Mia, Sarah tells Steve she wants a divorce. But when Tom catches his mother kissing Brad, he takes off into the smoky bush, resulting in a life-or-death pursuit.

Terror sets in when Tom fails to return to the house. With the fire encroaching on the property, Brad attempts to organize an evacuation. Searching frantically for Tom, Sarah finally makes a confession.
