When a teenager named Cal is found dead beneath the wheels of a tractor, his friends-Tina, Rob, Annie, Janine, and James-have their lives upended. Police officer Ruth Rosen investigates Cal's death as a murder, complicating the situation.

With suspicions high, Cal's friends are questioned by the police about what happened on the night of the murder. Attempting to raise spirits, Rob plans a surprise for James. Ruth tries to determine who supplied the friends with ketamine.

Tina reaches out to Eli, Cal's brother, but he's haunted by the changes he had seen in Cal the last few years. Ignoring her spiraling personal life, Ruth focuses on the case and finds footage of a hooded man arguing with Cal on the night he died.
