Ward Wood
Ward Wood's most prolific work was on the private detective series "Mannix." On the show, Wood played Lieutenant Art Malcolm, a Los Angeles police officer who frequently helped Mannix (the Armenian-American private investigator played by Mike Connors) with his cases. "Mannix" was known for being a very violent show, especially for its time (late '60s to mid '70s). Indeed, considering the number of times that Mannix was either beaten up, shot, or involved in a high-speed chase that ended in an impressive car crash, it was obvious why he could use the assistance of Wood's character. Though "Mannix" offered Wood the biggest role of his career, he also appeared as a guest star in several other series and in small parts in many feature films. One of his other significant roles was Cadet Scrapper McKay in "Adventures of the Flying Cadets," a 13-part miniseries about World War II flying cadets forced to prove themselves innocent of murder by tracking down a turncoat scientist.
