Remy (Dondré T. Whitfield) invites Nova (Rutina Wesley) fishing, where he shares stories about Nova’s parents. As the sun sets, Nova and Remy act on their romantic feelings. Meanwhile, Violet (Tina Lifford) continues to struggle with her lupus diagnosis, and Ralph Angel bonds with his boss’s daughter over dinner. Later, Ralph Angel extends Benny a generous offer. Elsewhere, Davis (Timon Kyle Durrett) discloses his secret to Charley, and Charley turns to Jacob for distraction. Micah and his new friends from school visit a plantation where they have a heated exchange with a plantation guide in a period costume, causing Ant to confess a secret to Micah. Finally, during a heartbreaking conversation, Darla (Bianca Lawson) and Ralph Angel clarify their relationship to Blue (Ethan Hutchison).

Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) starts his new school with excitement, where he befriends the teen protestors from the basketball game. Meanwhile, Nova’s (Rutina Wesley) editor reveals that she needs new material for her book. Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) meets with a potential new employee who was referred by his parole officer. In the evening, Blue (Ethan Hutchison) walks in on Ralph Angel while he’s spending time with a female guest, and Ralph Angel is flooded with guilt. Elsewhere, Hollywood and Violet attend Hollywood’s reunion together, where someone from Hollywood’s past insults Violet. Later, Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) tells Nova about her plan to topple Sam Landry’s (David Jensen) empire, and Nova strongly disapproves. Micah overhears the conversation and while discussing it with Nova, she extends comfort. Finally, Darla (Bianca Lawson) returns.

Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) meets with Francis and Jacob Boudreaux (Lea Coco), who express interest in joining the fight against Sam Landry. Nova (Rutina Wesley) is made an offer she cannot refuse. Jarrett Rawlings talks to Violet (Tina Lifford) about her lupus diagnosis and later, Violet encourages Hollywood (Omar J. Dorsey) to explore his own dreams. Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) and Trinh go on a date, but their plans for the future are sidelined when Ralph Angel receives custody paperwork from Darla (Bianca Lawson). Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe), Asha, Ant, KJ, and Malik almost fully execute their plan at Sweetbay Plantation, but when things go wrong, they’re left to wrestle with the aftermath. Nova finally tells Charley the truth about Remy (Dondré T. Whitfield), and later that evening, Remy also talks to Charley about their relationship. Charley then makes her feelings about Remy’s character very clear.

Violet (Tina Lifford) celebrates her 60th birthday at Ralph Angel’s (Kofi Siriboe) house, where Hollywood’s (Omar J. Dorsey) mother reveals her concerns about his relationship with Violet. Later, Violet makes a big concession. Ralph Angel brings Trinh to the party, but when Darla sees him with Trinh and Blue (Ethan Hutchison) at the grocery store, she asks for a custody schedule the following day. Meanwhile, Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) and Keke (Tanyell Waivers) explore their chemistry at the party, and Nova (Rutina Wesley) and Remy (Dondré T. Whitfield) grow closer. Later, Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) clarifies her romantic intentions to Jacob Boudreaux (Lea Coco), and she then goes on a date with Romero. Elsewhere, Violet discovers that Jarrett Rawlings wants more of the business than she had anticipated, and Nova learns new information about her father. Finally, Charley learns about the Landry’s true plan for the land, and the entire Bordelon family is left devastated.
