Victoria Beckham
As famous for her personal style as for her many outings as a performer and businesswoman, Victoria Beckham is still known to many in the world as Posh Spice. Born Victoria Adams in Harlow, UK, Beckham grew up in a wealthy family, and famously felt such embarrassment about it as a teenager that she often begged her father to drop her off a block away from school in order to not be seen stepping out of his Rolls Royce. Beckham was inspired to become a singer after seeing the movie "Fame" (1980), and spent her time singing in school musicals and part-time bands until 1994, when she auditioned for a new girl group called the Spice Girls and won a spot in the band. She and her four bandmates would become massively successful pop stars, each of them going by a nickname that playfully called attention to their most noticeable attribute-which for Beckham, meant her refined air and penchant for haute couture. The group would prove to be a sensationally popular act with hit songs like "Wannabe" and "Spice Up Your Life." After three hit albums, the group went on hiatus in 2000, around the same time Beckham married UK football star David Beckham. She briefly pursued a solo career, releasing one self-titled album before switching gears to concentrate her efforts on her other passion: fashion. Beckham released her eponymous fashion line in 2007, which grew in respect and popularity in the years to come, eventually offering a line at nearly every price point. That same year, she re-joined the Spice Girls for a reunion tour that drew massive crowds.
