Victor McLaglen
Former prizefighter (he once went six rounds against the great Jack Johnson) who entered British films in 1920 and moved to the USA five years later. McLaglen's blunt features were a familiar sight in films by John Ford, and he won an Oscar as the heavy-drinking title character of the director's gripping classic, "The Informer" (1935). Father of director Andrew V McLaglen and brother of actors Clifford, Cyril, Kenneth, Arthur and Leopold.
