Ulrike Krumbiegel
German actress Ulrike Krumbiegel is probably best known to television viewers as Clara Born, the put-upon girlfriend of psychotherapist Dr. Maximilian Bloch on the crime/detective show "Bloch." Although Krumbiegel has worked in television and movies since the early 1980s, her love was performing live on stage. She studied acting at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and then acted with a number of theater groups, including the Theatre of Schwerin, Berlin's German Theatre, and the Munich Studio Theatre, performing classics and contemporary plays. Krumbiegel started working in television at the same time as she was making her name on the stage, with the occasional movie role tossed in as well. In 1992, she made an impression co-starring in Dietmar Klein's "Der Erdnußmann," a comedy about a peanut vendor. She's also appeared in Margarethe von Trotta's historical romance "The Promise," set in the days after the construction of the Berlin Wall, Oliver Hirschbiegel's award-winning drama about the last days of Hitler, "Downfall," and the serial killer thriller "Antibodies," for which she received good notices. Like many German actors, Krumbiegel has done her time guest starring on the popular police procedurals "Tatort" and "Polizeiruf 110," the latter show garnering her an award for her appearance in a 2007 episode.
