In the sixth season premiere, Lilly and the team reopen the 1973 case of a murdered football player after new evidence surfaces to suggest he may have been killed earlier than originally thought... and that there may have been a steroid cover-up.

Two days after his heart bypass surgery, Richard is on the road to recovery. When Rory returns to Yale, she finds that Richard's economics class is now being taught by an attractive young professor, Tucker Culbertson (CAMERON BENDER), who flusters Rory with his charm. Meanwhile, trying to distract herself from the issues in her marriage, Lorelai joins Sookie in focusing on the funeral of one of Michel's beloved dogs. After Christopher (recurring guest star DAVID SUTCLIFFE) returns ready to talk, he and Lorelai discuss the main problem that has haunted their marriage: Lorelai's feelings for Luke.

A psychiatrist prescribes Ally medication in an effort to end her Al Green hallucinations; Cage and Nelle represent a student who was suspended from school after he kissed a co-ed; Billy attends a male sensitivity class.

Jack and the team search for a pregnant woman, Kathy Dobson (Nicole DeHuff), who disappeared from a hospital before being told that she has serious complications. As the detectives race against time to find Kathy, their investigation gradually reveals that Kathy's seemingly happy life actually hasn't been going very well. She is eight-and-a-half months pregnant and, under the tight control of her husband, Paul (Jeffrey Pierce), has withdrawn from her family and friends. Paul's brother, Ritchie (A.J. Buckley), who has been following Kathy and providing Paul with addresses she visits, lists a woman who may be affiliated with an, "underground railroad" that helps battered women. When the team members find the woman, they learn that she has been assaulted by Paul--but she still refuses to lead them to Kathy.

The Miami-Dade district attorney loses a highly publicized murder trial in which a husband is accused of killing his young bride and then dumping her body in the ocean. However, the woman's body is recovered from the ocean after the trial concludes and the 'double jeopardy' clause precludes the husband from being tried again. Now, as the CSIs fear that justice may not be served, new evidence suggests that the husband may have practiced on another victim first.
