Thomas G. Waites

Distinguished actor and playwright Thomas G. Waites has appeared in more than 30 productions for television and the big screen throughout his career. His impressive list of film credits includes such cinematic triumphs as "The Clan of the Cave Bear," "The Warriors" and "The Thing." In addition to his motion picture history, Waites has also lent his acting talent to a number of television series including such critically acclaimed shows as HBO's "Oz" and "Law & Order." Waites also lent his voice to two video games: "The Warriors," in which he voiced the character he played in the film, and "Grand Theft Auto IV" in which he voiced the character of Priest. Despite his formidable acting resume, Waites is probably best known for his work as an acting teacher and the founder of the Thomas G. Waites Acting Studio in New York City. In addition to teaching students the art of acting, Waites has also been a member of The Actor's Studio in New York City since 1984. Waites describes his philosophy of acting as "confronting and resolving crisis" and is using his skills developed as an actor and a director to help shape the talents of the next generation of thespians.
