Ted Sutherland
Many viewers first became fans of Ted Sutherland when he took on the role of Simon on "Rise" (NBC, 2018-), a series about the students in a high school theater program. Already something of a young veteran when he joined the cast, Sutherland had been performing professionally for several years, appearing on stage in the musical "Fanny" as part of the City Center Encores! Great American Musicals in Concert in 2010, and making his screen debut with a role in the TV movie "Family Album" (Fox, 2011) in 2011. After a small appearance in the John Turturro-directed comedy "Fading Gigolo" (2013), Sutherland gained some seriously substantial experience when he landed the lead role in the independent film "Dovid Meyer" (2013). Using every new role as a chance to learn more about the craft and the business, Sutherland then appeared in a minor part in the TV movie "Fan Girl" (ABC Family, 2015) starring Kiernan Shipka. He would go on to guest star on an episode of the long running "Law & Order: SVU" (NBC, 1999-), and appear on an episode of the political drama "Madam Secretary" (CBS, 2014-), before drawing on his early experiences on the stage for his role on "Rise."
