A newspaper reporter takes pictures and writes an article for the paper on the school's tennis team. The picture is Betty, the rawest member of the team, and it looks like she is the champion player. The team captain is not happy.

Betty is in the finals for track, and gets a lot of attention. She wins, and later that day, Betty is awarded for the Flower Queen. Bud's nose is put out of joint because he feels surrounded by girls.

While everyone is making extensive plans to celebrate "Superman Week" it is discovered, at the climax of the thrilling half hour drama, that Sy Horton's mob has learned the secret of Kryptonite, the only element in the entire Universe that can deprive Superman of his powers. Jimmy Olsen, the youthful reporter on the Daily Planet, let the secret slip out while under the influence of a truth drug forced upon him by Horton and Horton's crooked companion, Matthew Tips. Worse, he also revealed the location of some of the metal, encased in lead pipe at the bottom of the bay. Luckily, Clark Kent, who is in reality Superman disguised as a mild mannered Daily Planet reporter, gets wind of Jimmy's alarming revelation and prepares to confound the gangsters. Superman substitutes a harmless metal, which he permits Horton and Tips to steal. After they believe Superman has been bested, he captures them in the act of breaking into a safety vault. Superman Week is a great success, though Lois Lane and Jimmy are nonplussed to discover Superman and Clark Kent both apparently appearing on the TV stage -- at the same time.
