LAW & ORDER · S14, E12Payback
Jerry Tortino, a part-time buggy driver, is found shot to death with a crescent moon branded on his neck at the West Side stables. Jerry was a former bookie who served two out of a ten-year sentence in Sing Sing and he got off easy because he ratted out a major crime boss, Federico Righetti. Three weeks after Righetti gets out of prison, Tortino is killed. Briscoe and Green talk to Righetti's nephew Peter, which doesn't get them very far. Nonetheless, there's a connection they find between the Righetti's and Tortino. It seems they share the same real estate agent, Cary Stillwell.

The New York detectives team up with Detectives Munch (guest star Richard Belzer) and Sheppard (guest star Michael Michele) to uncover the mystery and secrets behind what seems to be a Washington sex scandal cover-up. Assistant District Attorney McCoy (Sam Waterston) is hindered in building evidence against the murderer when he is subpoenaed to appear before an Independent Council to reveal information that he has gathered on the case. He and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) work tirelessly to bring their case to court and to get a conviction without the Independent Council stepping in. S. Epatha Merkerson and Steven Hill also star.
