Steven Melching

As an Emmy-nominated writer for animated series, Steven Melching has contributed to some of the biggest superhero and science fiction franchises ever to hit the small screen, including "X-Men," "Batman," and "Star Wars." While growing up bouncing from town to town (a self-proclaimed "Air Force brat"), he was struck as an impressionable nine-year-old by the impact of the original 1977 "Star Wars" film. Between that experience and the family legacy of his grandfather--who helped to build the giant "King Kong" hand that held Fay Wray--he was propelled into the business, attending the prestigious University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television, the alma mater of George Lucas. By the mid '90s, Melching had begun writing for animation, beginning with the series adaptation of the comic book and film "The Mask," made popular on the big screen by Jim Carrey. Melching soon added the Marvel Comics mutant heroes "X-Men" to his list of credits, following years later with DC Comics' most famous character, "Batman." Melching earned the attention of the Star Wars media empire as one of the creators behind "Troops," an Internet phenomenon that featured the "Star Wars" Stormtroopers in their own "reality" segment based on the show "Cops." This eventually led to writing roles on numerous "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" entries, including a feature, a series, and two video games.
