Monica becomes popular with her neighbors because of her homemade candy. Phoebe decides to learn to ride a bicycle. Rachel gets into trouble for dating her assistant.

Rachel devises a lie about her unborn child that she hopes will break the silence between her and Joey; Phoebe reads tea leaves and predicts she will soon encounter the man of her dreams.

When Rachel visits her workplace to show off baby Emma, she is surprised to find a handsome temporary worker, Gavin (Dermot Mulroney- "About Schmidt"), who has been doing her job while she was on maternity leave. Their immediate war of wills prompts Rachel to make a rash decision that she could regret. Meanwhile, Joey arranges for Phoebe to get a job as an extra on his daytime drama series, but she wreaks havoc on the set. And, having quit his job, Chandler must get another--fast--because Monica desperately wants a family.

Rachel nearly gags on her meal when she secretly meets at a restaurant for a job interview and sits right next to the table where her current boss is dining. Phoebe considers legally changing her married name to something more exotic. Meanwhile, Joey feels abandoned when Monica and Chandler try to buy a house, but Joey finds solace with the sellers' precocious 8-year-old daughter, Mackenzie (Dakota Fanning - "The Cat In the Hat").
