Statuesque Canadian actress Sharon Taylor's background in martial arts provided intensity and veracity for her action-oriented roles in such popular science fiction series as "Stargate Atlantis" (The Sci-Fi Channel, 2004-09) and "Ghost Wars" (Syfy, 2017-). Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Taylor fell in love with acting as a high school student and later pursued a degree in theater from Simon Fraser University. After graduation, she worked extensively in Canadian theater and for a time, operated her own theater company, Shifting Point Theatre, before making her screen debut in the Canadian made-for-television movie "To Have and To Hold" (2006). Two years later, Taylor earned her breakout role as technician Amelia Banks on "Stargate Atlantis." Upon discovering that Taylor was a second-degree black belt in karate kickboxing, the series' producers incorporated her talent into her character, granting Taylor an impressive action showcase.
