Serena Reeder
The beautiful and spirited Serena Reeder was singled out by director Jim Sheridan when she was only 22 years old to appear in "Get Rich or Die Tryin'." Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Reeder attended the Duke Ellington School of the Arts there before moving to New York City to attend the Juilliard School Drama Division. She was still a senior when she was cast as rapper 50 Cent's young, drug pushing mother Katrina in 2005's "Get Rich or Die Tryin'." Reeder played a similarly tough, troubled character--this time a coke-addicted prostitute--in 2007's "Weapons," an exploration of violent youth starring Paul Dano and Nick Cannon that premiered at Sundance. In Rob Reiner's 2007 film "The Bucket List," Reeder played the daughter of Morgan Freeman, playing opposite Jack Nicholson. The film was a hit, opening number one at the box office and placed on the Top Ten Films of the Year by the National Board of Review. After roles in the NBC television series "Medium" and the heist comedy "Capers," Reeder was able to act in a production of one of her own screenplays. The short film "Man Fly," Reeder's first produced script, follows a day in the life of two people who meet under curious circumstances and co-stars Gustaf Skarsgård.
