Scott Spiegel

A longtime friend and collaborator of filmmaker Sam Raimi, Scott Spiegel made his major screenwriting debut on the director's 1987 cult horror feature "Evil Dead II." Spiegel, who attended high school with Raimi in Birmingham, Michigan, settled in Los Angeles in the late '80s, rooming with such future Hollywood notables as filmmakers Joel and Ethan Cohen, as well as actors Kathy Bates and Frances McDormand. Drawing upon his experiences in rural Michigan for material for his screenplays, Spiegel went on to earn critical accolades as the co-writer of "Evil Dead II," and lesser acclaim for his work on dozens of minor horror films and direct-to-video features, including 1999's "From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money" and 2010's "Hostel: Part III," both of which he also directed. Spiegel has also played bit roles in many of his own films as well as Raimi's, most notably the director's blockbuster "Spider-Man" movies.
