Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) disagree over the final decision made by a patient suffering from a life threatening heart condition. The pending lawsuit against Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) continues to move forward and Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) and Dr. Zanetti (guest star Julie Berman) scramble to save a patient with a misdiagnosed flesh eating bacterial disease. Elsewhere, Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) treats a young girl diagnosed with a contagious bacteria, prompting her and Dr. Halstead to take action to avoid a major outbreak.

Time is running out, and Michael must enlist the help of his cellmate Sucre to help execute his elaborate escape plan. But Sucre wants no part of it and asks for a cell transfer, and Michael’s new cellmate Haywire is even worse than he sounds. Meanwhile, Veronica meets a woman who may be able to help stop Lincoln’s execution.

Tom Kane cements his mayoral legacy with a lavish ceremony celebrating the groundbreaking of the new modernized O’Hare terminals. Now Kane looks to the future, setting his sights on reviving a subsidized housing project. While his political future seems bright, Kane continues to battle for control over his disease.

Kane uses a tragedy in his personal life to further his political agenda and ultimately win control over the housing authority. Kane tries to remedy his fractured inner circle by poaching his nemesis’ senior aide, Mona Fredricks, and hiring ambitious newcomer Ian Todd – but will they be enough to fill the void?
