Roy Haynes

Roy Haynes was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Haynes marked his early career with roles in "Celebrating a Jazz Master: Thelonious Sphere Monk" (1986-87), "Celebrating Bird: The Triumph of Charlie Parker" (PBS, 1988-89) and "Art Blakey: The Jazz Messenger" (1989) with Art Blakey. He then acted in "Sarah Vaughan: The Divine One" (PBS, 1990-91) and the Denzel Washington dramatic adaptation "The Preacher's Wife" (1996). More recently, Haynes appeared on "The Jazz Baroness" (HBO, 2009-2010).
