Roxy Saint
Inspired in equal parts by the look and sound of industrial goth and crust punk of the 1980s, Roxy Saint is a musician, director and actress who not only writes and performs her own music, but also directs the accompanying music videos and self releases the finished products. Born in Los Angeles, Saint was only a teenager when she started performing with local punk bands. By 1995, she had released her debut album, "Orphan Child." In 2004, she released a multimedia music package called "The Underground Personality Tapes" which included not only an LP's worth of new tracks, but also music videos for each and a framing device which linked them together. Saint directed these videos herself and then released them independently through online retailers, essentially bypassing the record label system entirely. Her biggest role as an actress came in 2008's "Zombie Strippers!," in which she plays the lead in a goth-rock band called Roxy Saint and the Blackouts. Besides acting in the film, Saint also contributed three songs to the soundtrack, both as a writer and performer. Saint has also launched her own clothing line, Trash Couture, inspired by her own thrift store clothing modifications. She has toured extensively, both in the United States and also in Europe, where she played the Leeds and Reading festivals.
