When Baltar leads a deadly prison revolt aboard the Galactica, taking many hostages, including Adama and other council members, Apollo and Starbuck find themselves racing against time to rescue the hostages before Baltar and his cohorts destroy them. In "Baltar's Escape," Adama is forced to relinquish his Starfleet leadership to the Council of Twelve and abide by their decision to release dangerous Alliance Enforcers captured on the planet Paradeen. When the council dispatches an unarmed peace envoy to accompany the paroled warriors to their Luna Seven base, the infamous traitor, Baltar, incites a violent prison break. To save the fleet and sabotage the cell block revolt, Adama surrenders himself to Baltar. Hoping to rescue the commander from his bloodthirsty adversary, Apollo and Starbuck secretly assume the identity of Alliance robots for their own surprise Cylon attack.

Starbuck must save a man he believes to be his long-lost father, portrayed by special guest star Fred Astaire, from bloodthirsty Borellian henchmen who are out to kill him. In "The Man With Nine Lives," an aging con man named Chameleon finds himself threatened by black market henchmen determined to avenge his double-crossing games. Seeking sanctuary aboard the Galactica, Chameleon captures the protective attention of Starbuck with a spiel about their possible father-son relationship. As his wily scheme progresses, however, the old man finds himself troubled by the ever-deepening affection between himself and his surrogate son.
