Rob LaBelle

Character actor Rob LaBelle has been most active in the sci-fi genre while landing a variety of one-off parts in comedies and dramas. His best-known role is as computer hacker and conspiracy-theorist "Crazy" Eddie Nambulous on the SyFy channel mystery series "First Wave"; it epitomizes the offbeat parts in which LaBelle is usually cast. In a typical extension of that archetype, however, he often plays other sorts of eccentrics, scientists, doctors, and lawyers. In 2009's comic-book adaptation "Watchmen," LaBelle played Wally Weaver, the lab assistant who accidentally contributes to the creation of superhero Dr. Manhattan, played by Billy Crudup. In another significant feature film role, LaBelle played idiosyncratic music producer Phil Spector in the Tina Turner biopic "What's Love Got to Do With It," starring Angela Bassett. In addition to LaBelle's acting, he directed two episodes of "First Wave," and was an executive producer on the Fox Telecolombia drama series "Mental," whose storyline follows a British doctor working in the United States and specializing in mental health treatment. LaBelle also acted in one of the multiple episodes he produced.
