Rick McCrank

Rick McCrank was a professional skateboarder, actor and TV host who was best known to American TV audiences as the host of the Viceland TV shows "Abandoned" (2016) and "Post Radical" (2018-). Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, McCrank's interest in skateboarding began at a very young age. He quickly became an adept skater and before long various Canadian brands took notice. One of those brands was the Canadian company Cherry Bombs, which immediately sponsored McCrank as one of its elite professional skaters. Before long McCrank was noticed by professional skateboarder Colin McKay. McKay liked what he saw in the young skater and signed him up as the newest member of his Plan B Skateboards. From there McCrank's professional skating profile began to soar, as he racked up numerous awards in various elite skateboarding contests. In addition to his skating, McCrank also appeared in numerous skate videos throughout the 2000s, including the 2012 skateboarding documentary "Pretty Sweet," which was co-directed by Oscar winner Spike Jonze. In 2009 he also landed a supporting role in the comedy fantasy film "Machotaildrop" (2009). McCrank continued skating professionally well into the 2010s, by but 2016 he had ventured into an entirely new career as a TV host for Viceland. McCrank's first hosting gig came in 2016 as the host of the TV documentary series "Abandoned," in which he explored various abandoned places in different parts of the country. "Abandoned" lasted only a single season on Viceland. Undeterred, however, McCrank returned to Viceland in the summer of 2018 as the host of "Post Radical." The documentary series goes deep into exploring various skateboarding subcultures. The series premiered on Viceland in July of 2018.
