Raye Dowell
Throughout her entertainment career as an accomplished actress, Raye Dowell graced the silver screen many times. Dowell began her acting career appearing mainly in films, such as the Tracy Camilla Johns comedy "She's Gotta Have It" (1986), "Slaves of New York" (1989) with Bernadette Peters and the dramatic comedy "Mo' Better Blues" (1990) with Denzel Washington. She worked in series television while getting her start in acting, including a part on "Law & Order" (NBC, 1990-2010). She kept working in film throughout the nineties, starring in the comedy "Boomerang" (1992) with Eddie Murphy and "Malcolm X" (1992). She also worked in television around this time, including a part on "Living Single" (Fox, 1992-98). Most recently, Dowell appeared on "The Back Story: 12 Years A Slave" (BET, 2013-14).
