Porter Wagoner

Porter Wagoner was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Burt Reynolds' Late Show" (1973-74), "The Rowan and Martin Special" (NBC, 1973-74) and "The 60th Anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry" (CBS, 1985-86). He also appeared in "Thanks, Troubadour, Thanks" (The Nashville Network, 1989-1990). He also acted in various movies at the time, including "Nashville Rebel" (1966) and the Clint Eastwood action picture "Honkytonk Man" (1982). He also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Hats Off to Minnie Pearl: America Honors Minnie Pearl" (1992-93), "Grand Ole Opry Live Christmas" (The Nashville Network, 1994-95) and "The Life and Times of Marty Robbins" (The Nashville Network, 1994-95). He also appeared in "Company's Comin': A Tribute to Porter Wagoner" (The Nashville Network, 1996-97). Later, he earned a role in the dramedy "Paradise Park" (1993) with Larry Groce. Wagoner's music was most recently used in the dramatic comedy "Nebraska" (2013) with Bruce Dern. He held additional roles in television including a part on "Memories: Grand Ole Opry Stars of the Fifties" (The Nashville Network, 1998-99). Additionally, he could be seen on a variety of television specials like "Grand Ole Opry 75th -- A Celebration" (2000-01), "The Grand Ole Opry: 75 Years of America's Music" (2000-01) and "The Johnny Cash Anthology" (PBS, 2000-01). Wagoner also contributed music to "The People vs. Larry Flynt" (1996). Wagoner passed away in October 2007 at the age of 80.
