Philip Gurin

A graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he earned his M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing, Gurin started his career in show business by writing for MTV's "Remote Control" (1987-90) and Nickelodeon's "Family Double Dare" (1988-1993), before opening his own television production company in 1997. While utilizing the contacts he made during the early days of his TV writing career, Gurin was able to translate his love of broad, frothy-light entertainment into mainstream hits, such as "The Singing Bee" (NBC 2007; Oh Sit!" (The CW 2012), and "Shark Tank." Furthermore, beginning in 2002 Gurin began producing live television events as well, including "Miss Teen USA," "New Year's Eve Live 2007" (NBC 2006), and "The 57th Annual Miss U.S.A. Pageant" (NBC 2008). In addition to his work as a TV producer, Gurin served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Television and Programming Executives, and the Format Recognition and Protection Association.
