Philip Anglim
Anglim went on to appear in the NBC-TV version of that play in 1982, although John Hurt played another interpretation of the character on film. Anglim's post-"Elephant" career onstage has included "Macbeth," "Welded" and the lead in the touring company of "M. Butterfly." In 1980 he starred in the one-man drama, "Judgment." He also co-produced the Broadway musical "Tintypes."Anglim's film career began with a tiny role in support of Jon Voight in "The All-American Boy" (1973). He had roles in the nuclear disaster film "Testament" (1983), the Burt Reynolds actioner "Malone" (1987), as Lord Byron in "Haunted Summer" (1988), "The Man Inside" (1990) and as Franz Kafka in the multi-national production "Milena" (1990). Anglim had a supporting role--as a ghost--in Woody Allen's "Stardust Memories" (1980), but asked to have his part and credit removed from the film.On TV, Anglim had supporting roles in two popular miniseries: as Charles Adams II in "The Adams Chronicles" (PBS, 1976) and as the pious Dane O'Neill in "The Thorn Birds" (ABC, 1983). Besides "The Elephant Man," he has appeared in the Showtime film "Curacao" (1993), the NBC pilot "The Book" (1995), and spent two seasons on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (syndicated) as Vedek Bareil.
