Peter James Smith

Born at the United States Air Force Air Station in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China, on February 20, 1971, Peter James Smith moved to the United States when he was only a year old. His television career began in 1994, with a role on the long-running crime drama "Silk Stalkings." He built up his résumé with a string of small parts, and worked his way into notable films like the cult comedy "Dead Man on Campus" and the Michael Bay World War II romance, "Pearl Harbor." However, Smith may be best remembered as White House aide, Ed, on the acclaimed Aaron Sorkin drama series, "The West Wing." Smith landed in the role in 1999, and would go on to reprise the part intermittently throughout the seven-season run of the massively successful series. After the show wrapped in 2006, Smith went on to appear in a string of acclaimed TV dramas, including "CSI: Miami," "Life," "The Unit," and"24."
