When Brennan wakes up in the bathroom of her New Orleans motel room, bloodied, beaten up and her earring ripped out of her ear, she doesn't know what happened or how she got there, and discovers she's lost an entire day of her life. The circumstances and her loss of memory are enough to rattle even Brennan, who's in New Orleans on vacation, helping to identify victims of Hurricane Katrina. Upon learning of Brennan's situation, Booth arrives on the scene to help her decipher her lost day. When the local medical examiner in New Orleans is found murdered, Brennan is targeted as the prime suspect. Booth and Brennan's investigation leads them into the dark underworld of Southern voodoo, but their search for answers may not come in time to clear Brennan's name.

Apollo, a Hearst student who suffered hardships as a child soldier in Africa, appears on Piz's radio show, prompting a man to come forth claiming to be his father. But Veronica's investigation unearths some surprises. Meanwhile, Neptune is faced with a crime spree that could spell trouble for Keith's campaign, and Logan finds himself in a difficult situation when Parker wants to spend to summer with him. Veronica awaits the results of her FBI exam.

Mona and Dee attend a wedding of one of Dee's ex-boyfriends Neil, while Phyllis and Big Dee attend the funeral of someone they were both once intimately involved with. Before the wedding begins, Dee Dee guiltily confesses her past relationship with Neil to Neil's bride-to-be, which results in the wedding being cancelled .

While throwing a baby shower for her ex-boyfriend and his new wife, Dee Dee notices that everyone is paired up except for her, and begins to struggle with her nonexistent personal life. Meanwhile, Mona begins to worry that her lack of maternal instincts will change how Chase feels about their future together .
