Nina Dobrev

Nina Dobrev was a Canadian actress who was best known for her roles in "Degrassi: The Next Generation" (CTV/MTV, 2001-15) and "The Vampire Diaries" (The CW, 2009-17). Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Dobrev immigrated to Canada with her parents when she was two. The family eventually settled in Toronto, and it was in that cosmopolitan city that Dobrev would spend the remainder of her formative years. As a young girl, Dobrev was drawn to the arts. She studied dance and jazz in grade school, and was even an accomplished rhythmic gymnast. When it came time to enter college at Toronto's Ryerson University, however, Dobrev decided to focus her studies on the more practical field of sociology. Fortunately, her time at the school would be short-lived, as her acting career took off shortly after her arrival. Her first big break was landing the part of Mia Jones on the high school drama "Degrassi: The Next Generation" in 2006. She played the role for three seasons on the series. During her time on "Degrassi," Dobrev also nabbed parts in acclaimed films like "Away from Her" (2006), "Fugitive Pieces" (2007), and "Chloe" (2009). After her role on "Degrassi" ended, Dobrev nabbed a recurring part on The CW's "The Vampire Diaries." She appeared in 134 episodes of the series from 2009 to 2017, thus making a name for herself as an accomplished TV actress in the process. In addition to "The Vampire Diaries," Dobrev also starred in a variety of films, including "Let's Be Cops" (2014), "The Final Girls" (2015), and "Flatliners" (2017). In 2018 Dobrev nabbed a starring role in the comedy-drama "Then Came You" (2018). That film, which also starred Tyler Hoechlin, was directed by Peter Hutchings.
