Nick Robinson

Born in Seattle, Washington, Nicholas John Robinson began acting at the age of nine when his parents enrolled him in an area theater group. Within two years' time, he had made his professional debut as a performer in a 2006 production of "A Christmas Carol" with Seattle's famed ACT Theatre. He was soon a staple of Seattle regional theater, which inspired a friend of his parents to consider a career in film and on television. A meeting with famed talent scout Matt Casella led to Robinson signing with a Los Angeles talent agency. However, his hopes were initially dashed by the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike, which brought Hollywood production to a standstill. Robinson and his parents returned to Washington, where he continued to hone his craft on stage. In 2009, he finally earned his big break by landing the role of Melissa Joan Hart's nephew on the popular ABC Family sitcom "Melissa & Joey." He soon added the Disney Channel original movie "Frenemies" (2012), and a guest turn as an ill-fated thief on the third season of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" (2010-14) to his growing c.v., However, his true breakout role came the following year with the independent drama "The Kings of Summer." The feature, which starred Robinson as a fifteen-year-old who attempts to declare his own independence by relocating to a tree house in the woods with two friends, received critical acclaim, including excellent reviews for Robinson's performance. He then returned to production on the fourth season "Melissa & Joey" while deferring his first year of college at New York University to focus on acting.
