Neville Brand

Neville Brand

Highly decorated WWII soldier who carved a niche as a tough-guy character actor, beginning with a role as a hood in the film noir, "D.O.A." (1950). Brand's rough-hewn features helped him project an air of menace in hard-boiled dramas, war films and westerns, most notably as the convict representative in "Riot in Cell Block 11" (1954). He portrayed gangster Al Capone three times: in "The George Raft Story" (1961), "The Scarface Mob" (1962) and TV's "The Untouchables." Brand also starred as a rowdy, occasionally bumbling Texas Ranger in the 1960s western series, "Laredo."
