Morgan Murphy

After a childhood during which she crisscrossed the country, Morgan Murphy's career in comedy began to take shape immediately after she graduated from high school, when she headed to New York City for an internship on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" (NBC 1993-2009). Back in Los Angeles for college at Loyola Marymount University, Murphy spent much of her time and energy developing material and testing it out at the local comedy venues. Her first real writing job was on a Showtime pilot called "The Offensive Show" with B.J. Novak and Dan Mintz. The show didn't go to series, but she continued to write and perform and was hired as a writer on the puppet sketch comedy show "Crank Yankers" (Comedy Central, 2002-2005; MTV2, 2007) which was produced by Jimmy Kimmel. That led to a job on the writing staff for "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" (ABC, 2003-). She was also a consultant on the sketch show "Human Giant" (MTV, 2007-2008), and was on the original writing staff for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (NBC, 2009-2014), on which she also appeared as a sketch performer. A fan of Morgan's stand-up, Whitney Cummings gave her a job on the writing staff of the sitcom "2 Broke Girls" (CBS 2011-). In 2014, she released her first standup special, "Irish Goodbye," via Netflix, as well as a companion album on iTunes.
